Experience

I have tutored since my sophomore year of undergraduate school - and worked with highschool and elementary age students in the past. Additionally, I teach courses now at Auburn University as apart of my graduate education, and so my experience working directly with students has only grown. I'm a relatively laid back tutor with a focus on critical thinking skills, but as an academic with Asperger's I also am able to communicate well with students who many not think in the most traditional ways. Hobbies

My name is Shelby Zikeli, I am a 24 year-old Doctoral Student at Auburn University. My Hobbies and Interests include: Ice Hockey, which I played for almost six years throughout high school and college although I had to drop it after moving down south, where women’s hockey is few and far between, Reading and Writing – as a member of science I’ve always enjoyed a great science fiction novel and as a child I wanted to be an author, so creative writing and reading have always been a passion of mine, especially for deliciously science related topics, Dogs – I have two very lovely and amazing dogs named Leda (a German Shepherd) and Frodo (an Australian Shepherd) with whom I spend all of my extra time and money. We take regular trips to the dog park and are a very outside oriented little pack. Hiking and Camping, as well as Biking with the dogs are also great loves of mine – I do a lot of my Master’s work outside at night and it’s some of the most beautiful moments. I am also a budding photographer – mostly I take photos of my dogs but I do particularly like well shot photos of nature and animals, although my equipment is nowhere near quality enough for some great shots just yet. I love to travel, and have been a great many places in my life so far, but the list continues to grow. I have a great passion for field science and hands on biology, and can honestly say I’m not sure I love anything more than actually getting to get out in the world with wildlife and learn more about their dynamics. I also have a passion for some creepy-crawly things – I study wildlife illness and ectoparasites and have always found parasites and diseases to be fascinating. Mostly I’m a quiet and studious person with a passion for the outdoors and our planet, who can get quite a bit nerdy about TV and Movies. Some of my favorites include; Avatar, the OA, Fringe, X-Files, Twilight Zone, Pushing Daisies, Westworld, Sense8, Stranger Things, Split, Splice, Star Trek, Legend of Zelda, Fullmetal Alchemist, Haikyuu!!, Friends, Big Bang Theory, The 100 and many many more.
