I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Auburn University with a degree in Elementary Education.
Experience
After graduating from Auburn, I moved to Birmingham and began substituting in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade. I began a full time job as an instructional aide in Mountain Brook working with students in Kindergarten through fourth grade. I then taught first grade, then second grade full-time in Chelsea, AL where I was nominated First Year Teacher of the Year by my principal. I currently work as a Title 1 Tutor at an Auburn City School as well as privately tutor students. I love tutoring because of the valuable one-on-one time that is not always available in the classroom. My favorite part about tutoring, other than getting to know my student, is seeing them succeed and become more confident in their abilities. I look for ways to keep students engaged and enjoying learning, so that they grow to become life-long learners. I take time to adjust my teaching to suit each student that I tutor, so that their learning time is maximized and personalized.
